As the good people of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance were unable to attend the recent PADFAC Presentation Evening we went to them, taking along carnival’s annual donation of £1,000.

The distribution of funds from the 2011 Carnival activities saw a total of £7,200 in donations to the following local charities and good causes:

£1,000 each: Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Prospect Hospice, Naomi House Hospice

£100 each: Puddleducks Playgroup, Vale of Pewsey Scouts, Pewsey Guides, Pewsey Brownies, Bubbles Playgroup, Devizes PHAB, Pewsey and District LINK, Pewsey Heritage Centre, Holy Family RC Church, St Johns Church Pewsey, Methodist Church, Police Benevolent Fund, Fire Service Benevolent Fund + 21 Village Halls

In response to postal requests, £100 each: Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust, Africaya, Pewsey Primary School PTA, Pewsey Youth FC

Finally, a special request for extra help for possible re‐roofing: £300 to Pewsey Heritage Centre

If you are interested in entering a float, or sponsoring a Carnival Event, or helping out in any other way then rest assured you will be welcomed with open arms!

We cannot have too many willing volunteers, e.g. stewarding events, crowd marshalling … and the fitter amongst you could help lug the safety barriers around, it really does do wonders for your physique! … just sign up with the FB Group (link above) and contact the folks there or use the form on our Contact Us page to let the Secretary know of your interest.

The annual presentation of awards and distribution of funds to the beneficiaries of carnival will take place on Fri 30th March 2012, 7.30 pm for 8.00 p m in the Bouverie Hall. All are welcome and there is a bar.

The date of this year’s Illuminated Procession is Sat 22nd Sept, 7.30 pm

Reasons to be Cheerful!

The night as they say is yet young. But as Pewsey settles into its post-Procession parties, it knows it can celebrate a significant upturn in the number of entrants in this year’s Illuminated Carnival. In particular, no fewer than 23 floats took part in the motorised classes compared to a low point of 13 last year – a rejuvenation of fortunes that organisers have already determined to surpass next year … Sat 22nd Sept 2012

Yes, its that time of year again! At the time of writing, just 6 hours remain before the ceremonial switching-on of the Carnival Lights by our 2011 Queen Lucy Brown. STOP PRESS: And now it has happended …

This heralds a fortnight of activities leading up to the Illuminated Procession on Sat 17th which shows every sign of being the biggest and best since the 1998 Centenary. To that end all would-be entrants are strongly advised to help the organisers minimise congestion on the day by registering as early as possible … here.
