Jack Edwards – Dad
The 2004 Carnival programme included an affectionate farewell to a good friend of both Kenny Miles and Carnival in the person of Jack “Dad” Edwards (d. 2003) who had very recently passed-on, another great character much missed.
Full justice was done in the following year’s edition recalling how “Dad” - named for his fond portrayal of Albert Steptoe when collecting for Cossor’s Sale – had “left the village for the last time”. Jack loved nothing more than what the Irish call the craic – simply translated, the enjoyment of other people’s company. Dad loved all, young and old, everyone’s best mate and never moreso than when helping his mate Graham Manning with the Yellowhammer Roadshow.
