But as Pewsey settles into its post-Procession parties, it knows it can celebrate a significant upturn in the number of entrants in this year’s Illuminated Carnival. In particular, no fewer than 23 floats took part in the motorised classes compared to a low point of 13 last year – a rejuvenation of fortunes that organisers have already determined to surpass next year … Sat 22nd Sept 2012

Fast Trackers: click here for Carnival Entry Form

With several new floats and more marching bands already entered than ever before Pewsey Carnival is well on the way to putting on the biggest and best procession since the centenary event in 1998. Now local enthusiasts have resolved to put on an even better show following a cowardly act of vandalism on one of the floats under construction at Coopers Field.

On the morning of Sun 28th August float builders already working flat out to play their part in providing the entertainment for the big day arrived to find that tins of red and yellow paint had been randomly thrown all over their hard work. A whole day was lost just clearing up the mess from the malicious act. But the show must go on and the spirit was summed up by another Carnival supporter who commented that “an attack on one float is an attack on all of us, it just makes us more determined.”

Meanwhile anyone who has any knowledge of those responsible for this act of criminal damage should contact Wiltshire Police or Crimestoppers.
