What on earth is this Cossor malarkey i keep hearing of?
That’s a funny name? Cossor was the nickname of Clifford Goldsworthy who was a Carnival stalwart, organising Cossor’s Sale, (formerly the Butcher’s Sale) from 1948 to 1998. Cossor was also Carnival President in the 1990s.
In 2005-2006 Roger Pope decided to open a second hand shop to raise much needed funds for Carnival. Since then the shop has provided Carnival with funds to purchase our Carnival Store, support the running costs of Carnival as well as allowing us to donate to other local good causes.
The jumble is from noon and the auction is from 6pm. Cossor’s gang will be travelling round the village on the Monday and Tuesday with tractors and trailers (also ringing ZEE BELLS) collecting any unwanted items to sell at auction on the Wednesday.
All proceeds go towards making money to aid the carnival. So we ask if you have any items you no longer need that you think others may benefit from please put them out for collection. Cossor’s Shop is an extension from this event to help fund the running of the Carnival throughout the year. Click here for more info.
